Customer Reviews about Northpark Animal Hospital

  • I've been with Northpark Animal Hospital for nearly 20 years. In that time, Dr. Hebert and his staff have seen not only our personal pets, but foster dogs as well. I've never had a bad experience with NAH and wouldn't trust the care of my fur babies to anyone else. Dr. Hebert is always available to talk, answers my questions thoroughly, and is so compassionate during the difficult times. The vet techs, kennel techs, and front desk staff are amazingly sweet and friendly; our babies just love all of them, which gives me such peace of mind because I know that means they are treated so well even when I'm not present. I'm so thankful to have found Northpark Animal Hospital; they are hands down the best in fur baby care.

Worst Diagnosis!!!! Should have a 0 star rating. Long story here but felt I needed to share. I got a call from my wife before I got off work saying my 9 yr old boxer (Gus) wouldn't go up or down the stairs or jump in the couch like he normally does and that he was really stiff. I normally go to Summerwood vet to Dr. McCann but it being late in the evening I couldn't make it there for this emergency. My wife called the north park vet and they said they would see him which I was greatful for. The vet Dr. Hurbert, saw him and thought he had a slipped disc or something wrong or pulled with his spine. So they gave him some pills to take and said I could call in the morning or make an appointment for the morning to see if he was doing better. So I made the appointment instead of calling. I arrived that morning and they wanted to take him back to the back and charge me a cage fee and a fee for him being there a couple of hours. I told them I was here and why can't they do the test while I was here. I asked if this was their normal protocol for people who make an appointment to take their animals back and charge them for these fees. They said no but they were "really busy". I told them that's not my problem. I made the appointment and I'm here so do the exam and the people after me will have to wait. The vet came out and argued with me that it's just 90$ and it would be easier for then to have him back there and they would test him in between other animals. Long story short they tested him right then. I had informed the vet he had a little redness in his urine that morning so he took some test and came back and said he has LIVER CANCER and its severe. It broke my heart right there. He said he would send it off and let me know the next day. I went home and told my wife and child and we all crowded around our boxer and cried holding him knowing he had no idea. So Dr. Hurbert called the next day saying he sent it off to the proctologist and didn't find any cancer in his blood??? But he and the other doctor were 99.9% sure it was cancer. I asked how long my boxer had to live and he told me a couple of days maybe a week or 2 at most. So again we were devistated. So days go by and my boxers urine becomes normal, he now runs and jumps up like normal, eats and drinks like normal which was crazy because Dr. Hurbert told me you will see him go down drastically in the next couple of days. So I decided to take him to his regular vet to do the test. I had North Park fax over all test results and diagnosis so Dr. McCann could look them over. She was shocked to see Gus in such good health from the other vets diagnosis. They did several test and sent off all their info and results came back NOT CANCER. It's a kidney growth and we are scheduled for surgery 2 week's out to remove part of the 1 kidney. It has now been almost a month since I took him to North Park vet seeing how Dr. HUBERT said he should have been dead week's ago I am writing this to make sure people know to either stay away from these people or get a 2nd opinion on any diagnosis he gives you. Should have saved myself the over 800$ from some vet telling me my dog has severe liver cancer and is going to die in the next couple of days and went to Dr. McCann.

  • Not enough stars for this place :) I drive to this vet from Pasadena since fate brought it to us last year. My 3 year old pomeranian had some health issues and was in and out of our local vet with no diagnosis (just meds that did not work). Since coming to Dr. Hebert we got a diagnosis and awesome treatment for my boy. THANK YOU NORTHPARK!

I received a personal phone call from the owner of Northpark animal hospital apologizing for the Incident on Monday. I considered the apology very heart felt and sincere. Due to this I have decided to change my original rating from a negative one to a neutral one. I literally just got scammed by this vet. I brought in a stray dog in to have it scanned for a chip. I was then led to believe that they could look after the dog while I was at work for free. Turns out I was wrong. They tried to charge me $90 for meds and an isolation fee. When I said I didn't want to pay it they then added on an additional fee that they had forgotten about. I was just trying to do the right thing but instead I got stuck with a $113 bill. Never coming back here again.
